Registration in the system

What are the requirements for registration?

Download the BA Ecobici app from the PlayStore or AppStore. You can register using your DNI and a credit or debit card.

OPEN YOUR ACCOUNT.

Become a Macro Client by accessing the following link: https://hacetecliente.macro.com.ar/abritucuenta

In-person registration: Only by prior appointment, which can be requested through our chat channel.

On the scheduled day, you must bring the following documents:

  • Original DNI
  • Mobile phone capable of receiving SMS and emails
  • A utility bill in your name or with the same address as stated on your DNI. The bill must be no older than 2 months. The address must be within the Argentine Republic. Otherwise, a proof of residence issued by the Federal Police is required.

Minors from 16 to 18 years of age, ONLY PRESENT REGISTRATION

They must be accompanied on the day of the shift by a parent, guardian or legal guardian with the following documentation:

  • Birth certificate of the minor or documentation that accredits the link.
  • Original DNI issued by the Ministry of the Interior of the Argentine Republic (of the adult and minor to be registered).
    Service in the name of the guardian, with the same address that appears in the DNI (It must be no older than 2 months. The address must be within the Republic of Argentina).
  • Cell phone that can receive SMS and MAIL, both from the minor and the adult.
  • Credit or debit card.

Registration with precarious registration, ONLY PRESENT REGISTRATION

On the day of the assigned shift they must present:

  • Valid passport.
  • Certificate of Precarious Residence.
  • Certificate of domicile, issued by the police.
  • Cell phone that can receive SMS and MAIL.
  • TC (optional)

Foreign citizens, REGISTRATION BY APP
They will be requested:

  • International credit card.
  • Valid passport.
  • Residence address in Buenos Aires.
  • Cell phone that can receive SMS and MAIL.
Why was my credit card charged when I registered?

The amount charged is to corroborate that your credit/debit card is valid. This amount will be refunded to you automatically.

What happens if I forget my password?

If you forgot your password you can recover it through the BA Ecobici by Tembici App, in login > Recover password. The password must not be the same as the previous one and must have at least 8 characters including 1 letter, 1 number, 1 special character (@#$%^& =) and 1 capital letter.

What happens if the credit card I registered with expires?

If your credit/debit card reaches its expiration date, you can edit the card in your App profile. Please note that, in the meantime, you will not be able to use the bikes.

1- Login to your profile from the APP.
2- Click on Passes and Payment.
3- Select “Edit” and add your new card details.

Acquisition of passes

What are the current pass options?
BASIC

FREE
Ride from Monday to Friday (business days) and make up to 4 free trips per day, each lasting 30 minutes.

INTENSIVE

1 TRIP
From Monday to Friday, get one 45-minute trip for $200. You can purchase more than one trip per day.

1 DAY PASS
Ride from Monday to Friday for $1,000 and make 4 trips of up to 60 minutes each. Valid on business days only.

MONTHLY
Ride every day of the month for $10,000 and make 4 trips of up to 60 minutes each. The pass renews automatically, but don’t worry! You can cancel your subscription at any time.

ANNUAL
Ride every day of the year for $60,000 and make 4 trips of up to 60 minutes each.

RECREATIONAL

1 TRIP
Ride on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Take 1 trip of up to 30 minutes for $521. You can purchase more than one single trip per day.

1 DAY PASS
Valid for Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Ride for $1,708 and make 4 trips of up to 60 minutes each.

WEEKEND PASS
Ride on Saturday and Sunday and make 4 trips per day of up to 60 minutes each for $2,027.

TURISTIC

SINGLE TURISTIC PASS
Take 1 trip of up to 45 minutes for $2,100. You can purchase more than one trip per day.

TURIST 3 DAYS
Enjoy unlimited trips of up to 90 minutes each for 24 hours for $15,000, available every day.

TURIST 3 DAYS
Enjoy unlimited trips of up to 120 minutes each for 72 hours for $37,500, available every day.

TURIST 7 DAYS
Enjoy unlimited trips of up to 120 minutes each for 7 days for $50,000, available every day.

For all passes: If you exceed your trip usage time, you will have a 5 minute tolerance. After that, you will be charged $16 per minute of overuse.

To use the bike again at the end of any trip, wait 15 minutes.

How long does the unlock code last?

The code is valid for 1 (one) minute. If time runs out, you can generate a new code to unlock a bike at the same dock or another within the same station.

What are the extra fees I might be charged?

If you exceed your trip usage time, you will have 5 minutes of tolerance. After that, you will be charged $31 per minute of overage.

What happens if I don't use all the rides included in my pass?

Unused trips expire daily.

If I buy a weekend pass and do not use it, can I use it the following weekend?

No. Passes are not cumulative; they must be used on the same day or the same weekend on which they are purchased.

Can I use the system if I do not want to buy a pass?

If you are an Argentine resident over 16 years old, with an ID issued in the Argentine Republic or a foreigner with precarious residence, you can use the basic pass, free of charge, from Monday to Friday and make up to 4 trips per day, with a limit of 30 minutes each.

How do I buy a pass?

To purchase our passes you can do it from the BA Ecobici app by tembici. There you will find the available options that best suit your needs. You must enter your profile, choose the category you like, confirm the type of pass and that’s it, you can now enjoy cycling around the city!

What are the payment methods?

If you are registered with a credit or debit card, your card will be charged directly. If you are registered without a credit card or with “open your Macro account” you will have to pay through the payment market, contacting us through our customer service channel from the App.

How do I cancel a pass?

The only passes that are automatically renewed are INTENSIVE MONTHLY and FREE, if you choose to cancel it:
1- Login to your profile from the APP.
2- Click on Passes and Payment.
3- And, with the pass active, select “Cancel renewal” and that’s it. You can cancel it at any time.

If your pass is not renewed automatically, you must do it through our customer service channel.

Are pass renewals automatic?

No. Only the subscription to the INTENSIVE MONTHLY and FREE pass is automatically renewed. 

System utilization

How do I use the system for the first time?

First you must be registered. You can do it from our app. Once you are an Ecobici user, you can access the available options that best suit your needs. How do I do it? You must enter your profile, choose the category you like, confirm the type of pass and that’s it!

To pick up a bike you must be physically present at the station. After entering the app and selecting the station where you want to pick up the bike, you can unlock it with QR, which is located on the handlebars of the bike.

Where are the stations located?

You can see all our stations on the map in our home page.

How do I visualize the availability of bikes?

When you log in to the app, you will be able to see the map indicating how many bikes are available at each station.

Can I lend my bike or access to the account?

No. Both the bicycle and the account are for personal and non-transferable use.

What happens if I do?

The penalties detailed in the terms and conditions of service may apply.

How long does the unlock code last?

The code is valid for 1 (one) minute. If you run out of time, you can generate another code to pick up a bike at the same dock or at another dock in the same station.

Can I see my travel history?

You can view your travel history by accessing the app and going to the “Trips” section in the main menu.

Can I use the bike outside the City of Buenos Aires?

No, the bikes are for exclusive use within the City of Buenos Aires. If you do so, tembici may apply a penalty, according to terms and conditions.

If I can't find free stations to return my bicycle, what should I do?

Through the Ecobici app you can visualize which are the nearest stations with available positions to anchor the bicycle, in this case the user has 5 minutes of extension.

How can I be sure that the return of my bike is correct?

Check that the bike is securely anchored by pulling it towards you. ALWAYS wait for the green light to flash. If there is a problem with the return, the red light will turn on. In that case, you have to anchor it in another available position or another station. In case you can’t, communicate through our chat channel.

What happens if the chosen bike has problems?

If the bike needs to be repaired, you will need to lock it in an available location at the nearest station and press the red button.

What do I do if my bike was stolen?

In case of theft, you must file a report within 48 hours at the nearest police station where the incident occurred. Then, you must send it to the following email address: denunciasbsas@tembici.com. Keep in mind that your user will be temporarily suspended, the sooner you report it, the better!

What should I do in case of an accident with the bicycle?

In case of an accident, if there were no third parties involved, you will be able to make a release, via email, telling us about the situation to the following email: denunciasbsas@tembici.com. It must include your personal data and details of what happened, such as: when, how and where it happened.

In case there is a third party involved, you must file a report within 48 hours at any police station in CABA. Remember that the report must include your personal data and the details of the events that took place, such as: when, how and where the event occurred and the data of the third party. Once you have filed the report, you must send it by e-mail to: denunciasbsas@tembici.com.
